Congressman Bishop Statement on Revised Fiscal Year 2007 Emergency Appropriations Bill

Washington, D.C. Today, the U.S. House of Representative passed the revised fiscal year 2007 Emergency Supplemental Appropriations bill, which will provide funding for continued combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The bill also provides emergency assistance for domestic emergencies such as agricultural disaster relief, Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC), Gulf Coast Recovery, children,s health care, and veterans and military health care. Earlier this month, President George W. Bush vetoed two previous versions of the spending measure, however, he is expected to sign the version passed today. Congressman Sanford D. Inc. announced that it will renovate and install new state-of-the-art equipment before it reopens the Sylvester, GA facility where its recalled peanut butter products were produced.
